Is GAP insurance Valid if Your Car Keys Are Stolen?

GAP insurance, (in terms of vehicle theft), covers you in the event that your vehicle is stolen, not recovered then subsequently declared a Total Loss.

With vehicle security improving all the time, a common form of vehicle theft currently involves the theft of the vehicle keys, which in turn, are then used to steal the vehicle.

Now let's be clear... if you leave the vehicle unattended with the keys inside, you're clearly asking for trouble and you may well have a hard time claiming on your Motor Insurance, let alone anything else.

But what if your house is burgled, during which the car keys were taken and used to steal your vehicle?

What if you were car-jacked and forced to hand over the vehicle to the thief?

Heaven forbid, what if you were assaulted and the car keys taken from you?

Unfortunately things like this do happen and if you were unfortunate enough to be a victim of these or similar acts, you're clearly going to want your Insurance claims to be handled as efficiently and as hassle-free as possible.

To this effect, our position is very clear and it's as simple as; if your Motor Insurance policy agrees to pay out, our policy will pay out on the same basis.
